Association for Play Therapy
Приєднався 1 гру 2010
Welcome to the APT Play Therapy Channel. Just as adults use words to communicate, children use play. Licensed mental health professionals therapeutically use play to help clients, particularly children, to express themselves and work out their problems. The Association for Play Therapy (APT) was formed in 1982 to advance play therapy and provide information, training, credentialing, and networking opportunities to its member psychologists, counselors, marriage and family therapists, and clinical social workers. You are also welcome to visit our website.

A Message from the Foundation for Play Therapy Board
What do you see for the play therapists of 2020. Even with covid its amazing how spot on she was with a lot of this. Kids are more stressed; and a lot more pressure is put on them at younger and younger ages. A lot are forced to grow up too quickly.
A beautiful story. Thank you.❤
Thank you Kim. Love and respect. JP
Thank you, Kim! Happy to be part of this playful and uplifting journey as we celebrate International Play Therapy Week!
Woo hoo, thank you Kim and fellow BOD members, and thank you Association for Play therapy staff, and all our wonderful members. Play on!

I cannot hear this video very well :(
The video is nice and clear. I wish I could hear the mother and child better!
Do you have any facility in Arizona?
what if a counsellor has tendencies towards racism and does not care about a child from a different race from hers? I know that counsellors should abide by code of ethics, but the reality is different. Has anyone faced any such thing?
Thats extremely unlikely.
@@crookcostello6018 I wish it were.
Thank you. You have taught me to be a better teacher. 😊❤️
How I can get training from you.

My child doesnt ready to come back from park,he showed tantrum, what will i do?
Many tikes giving them a time limit warning helps im these situations. A 10 minute, then 5 minite warning. I used to have the same issue then tried this and it helps every time! He'll leave the fun without a fuss now.
I’d love to get certified as a Play Therapist. My dream is to one day work in one of Shriner’s Children’s Hospital ❤
I would love to get certified as a Play Therapist 🥰
It’s great to know this type of therapy. My daughter is 6yrs old and is in 1st grade. Her school teacher called me and said she didn’t join any PE class or speak a word at school, academically is good, but social and participation is 0. She suggested me to get her see play therapy to help her overcome the inner afraid, and express herself freely. She is also easy to be triggered at home and I don’t know how to teach her anything new, she will resist. I made an appointment for her next week for the first time, not sure how it will work. Do you think her behavior at school is not typical? Thank you
How has she been doing in therapy?
Darn! Just missed the deadline. Will circle back next November!
thank you!!!
What is the cost for making some children not talking? Pls can you tell me
Great to bump into this channel!

Sound like they are reading instead of talking!
Thank you for the kind and thoughtful words. I thought you would like to know that I have been using Child-Centered Play Therapy for the last 20 years, and (although I was worried at first that it would not be as effective on an on-line platform as it is in the playroom) I have been pleasantly surprised at its adaptability. The children are loving it! I have been invited to enter their world (which was not possible before). They share their favorite stuffed animals, toys, and pets with me, take me on tours of their house, jump off of pillow hills, read me books, etc. One 8 year old girl even put me in the basket of her bike and took me for a ride around the block, chatting non-stop with the wind blowing in her face (I fell out once, but she stopped and put me back in. Ha!). What a treat to see these kids in an even more comfortable environment than the playroom. Recently I had a new 4 year old boy who (at 45 minutes into his first on-line session when given a warning that we had one minute left) threatened to handcuff me if I hung up! The next day when he came home from school, he said to his mother, "Where is that play lady? We need to go to her house." I'm so very grateful to have a strategy that can develop that all-important relationship no matter where you are. I recently started a new Facebook group called Child Centered Play Therapists (which I would love for you and any other interested therapists to join) hoping to give other like-minded therapists a safe place to share. Please take really good care of yourself in these challenging times.
Promote #justplay around the world!
